REESE!

This is her.  So, who is this little girl?  Well, in late 07, Ashley and I began to feel God asking us to do something way out of our little comfy happy place.  We felt a clear call to begin the process of adopting a little girl from Thailand.  We've never been to Thailand.  We don't know anyone from Thailand.  Why Thailand?  Long story, short...we wanted to help a little girl have a better life.  Many little girls that are orphaned in Thailand will not have a real shot at a meaningful, joy-filled life.  In fact, for many, they'll become someone else's property and be used however the "owner" sees fit.  That's unacceptable.  So, we are going to bring this little girl into our home and watch what God does with her.  We've been waiting about 1 1/2 years and we hope to have her home by late fall/early summer.  Please pray for Reese and our family as we continue to prepare for her arrival.  I'll keep you updated.

AUDIBLE #2

So, here I go again, changing the play.  WE'VE GOT A NEW BUILDING!  Not a new building, but it's new to us.  Sometimes God does these bizarre things that we come nowhere near understanding.  This is one of those times.  Through a friend of one of our launch team members, we were able to lease out the Arkansas Baptist State Convention building downtown.  The ABSC moved into a new facility a couple of months ago, and the building was vacant, so we just took a shot in the dark and asked if we could lease the building while the owner had the building on the market.  And he said yes.  We're getting a great deal and are able to do a short term lease, which is perfect for where we are as a church right now.  I'll be able to have an office downtown now, so I'll be way more visible in the areas that we're trying to connect to.  I think that last sentence ended with a dangling participle.  I always laughed when my teacher said those words.  Anyway, God has without a doubt had his hand on THECITYCHURCH since day one, and I'm so blessed to be a part of it.  If you're not a part of a church or it's been a while, we'd love for you to come check it our.  Our next preview is on March 22 at 10:20, and we go full time on Easter Sunday, April 12.  The new address is 525 W Capitol in Downtown LR.

DATE CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!

So, if you've ever watched Peyton Manning play football you've noticed that he'll call a play in the huddle, then get up to the line and look around, pointing and yelling, then yell out a totally different play than the one he just called in the huddle.  That is what doctors call an audible.  Well, I'm no Peyton Manning, but this week THECITYCHURCH is calling an audible.  Due to the running of the Little Rock Marathon we've decided to change our March preview from March 15 to March 22.  There are supposed to be about 8000 runners and over 25000 spectators in downtown on the 15th, so that was going to be major problems for what we were trying to do.  So, scratch out the 15th on your calendar and move down a line and mark it for the 22nd.  As of right now, we are planning on meeting in the Statehouse Convention Center, but we are in the middle of a deal on a more permanent space.  I say that to say, we may be calling another audible soon.  If the building deal goes well, I'll be the one yelling the new directions from the line of scrimmage.  Blue 22...

That's a Big 10-4!

I've been on the edge of my seat these last few days waiting to hear about a couple of potential meeting locations.  Our launch team has been praying at 10:20 am for the last two weeks.  Couple of reasons for 10:20.  First, it's our Sunday morning meeting time, so I figured it would be easy to remember. Second, it's trucker talk for "what's your location," so any time you get to use trucker lingo, I say go for it.  Bottom line:  We believe God has just the right spot for us, but sometimes it's tough to wait on his timing. You ever deal with that?  Right now I've got some 10-17, so I've got to go 10-7, 10-4.
